EU-based asset managers SEC applications thwarted by GDPR

The SEC continues to delay applications from EU-based asset managers, much to the frustration of those trying to register. The Securities and Exchange Commission has concerns over EU data protection rules stemming from GDPR and currently have a moratorium on all applications from those seeking to become SEC Registered Investment Advisers. We understand over fifty firms are currently affected, none of which will be authorised until the SEC are comfortable that GDPR will not hinder its attempts to access company data.
