Bovill appoints new CEO

Rebecca Thorpe

NEWS RELEASE: Rebecca Thorpe has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of international financial regulatory consultancy, Bovill. Rebecca, who is Partner and Head of Bovill Asia, will take up the new role on 1st July. Founder and Chief Executive, Ben Blackett-Ord, will become Executive Chairman of Bovill.

Rebecca joined Bovill in 2006. She currently heads up the business in Asia, sits on the global Board and oversees the Hong Kong and Singapore practices. She also line manages the Fraud & Financial Crime and Global Capital Markets practices, which are mainly UK-based. Rebecca, who started her career with Deloitte, has been a consultant for over 20 years. She has helped to build from scratch and subsequently manage two successful Bovill offices in Asia, and her work has included providing strategic advice to new businesses, acting as a FCA skilled person, and delivering multi-national regulatory change programmes. Currently living in Hong Kong, Rebecca will relocate to London when she assumes her new role.

Ben, who founded Bovill over 20 years ago, will continue to work with Bovill’s clients in addition to chairing the Board and supporting the Bovill executive team. Since founding Bovill in 1999, Ben has grown it from a specialist start-up consultancy to a global business with offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, the US and the EU. The Bovill team has advised clients from across the financial services sector from start-ups and investors to global banks.

Ben Blackett-Ord, CEO of Bovill, commented:

“It has been a pleasure and an honour to lead Bovill and I look forward to its continued growth under Rebecca’s highly skilled leadership. The last twenty years in the financial services sector have been exciting, challenging and fascinating. I am proud of the work that we as a group have done and the clients we have served. One of the key philosophies of Bovill from the beginning has been about its people – being honest, thorough and easy people to deal with. I’m thrilled that Rebecca, who I have worked with for over 15 years and has been a core asset for Bovill, will now be taking the helm. I look forward to supporting her in my new role as Executive Chairman.”

Rebecca Thorpe, Partner, Head of Bovill Asia, commented:

“I have witnessed and been part of Bovill’s development and have always been passionate about pushing the growth of the business in new and exciting areas. This led me to relocate to Asia in 2015 to grow and build the foundations of our international offering. A big part of Bovill’s culture is supporting and nurturing talent and I will continue to drive this when I become CEO. There is likely to be a huge amount of change over the next couple of years in the financial services industry as we navigate the post-pandemic world, and I am looking forward to leading Bovill through this next chapter in its history.”
