Bovill is an independent, specialist financial services regulatory consultancy with a global offering.
“We love solving difficult problems and making life easier for our clients. We pride ourselves on being honest, thorough, and nice people to deal with.”
Rebecca Thorpe
Chief Executive Officer
Bovill was founded in 1999 by Ben Blackett-Ord and began as a small but specialist firm of compliance consultants. Based in London, Bovill was built up on a solid foundation of long-term clients for whom we provide compliance advice.
Today Bovill is a global financial services regulatory consultancy with offices in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Americas. We work with clients internationally on every element of regulation. We help firms build projects to respond to significant regulatory change, or give them peace of mind they’re doing the right thing.
We work with firms who are the focus of regulatory enforcement or scrutiny, as an adviser, and as a ‘skilled person’. We advise start-ups, investors and acquirers on how regulation has an impact on their strategy. And we are still a trusted adviser when it comes to ongoing compliance advice: many of our clients have been with us for more than 10 years.
We are proud to have remained both highly technical and independent over the years, with our CEO Rebecca at the helm.
We embrace the challenge provided by our colleagues, and recognise the importance of providing constructive professional challenge back. We embrace the challenge to develop ourselves, to grow and learn. We embrace the challenge of difficult tasks. We embrace our mistakes and learn from them.
We are kind, we are considerate. We interact with people as individuals with differing viewpoints, differing considerations, differing sensitivities, differing experiences. We manage our communication and relationships positively and proactively. We consider the impact of our actions, or lack of action.
We take pride, we hold ourselves to account, we ask for help, we own the problem and the solution. We escalate when needed, we ask for feedback. We are reliable and share the load with colleagues. When we delegate or collaborate we recognise the strengths, skills and limitations of others in relation to ourselves.
We make our voice and our viewpoint heard. We consider our message and the results we want to achieve. We consider what we are saying, and the true purpose behind how we are saying it. We are constructive. We recognise that all voices are valid. We listen and encourage others to listen.
We take responsibility for our role, our actions, our lack of action, our motivation, our happiness, our wellbeing. We are proactive not reactive. We recognise that loving our job does not mean everything about our job is perfect.
Our offices are not separate businesses. The whole team – based in London, the Americas, Singapore and Hong Kong – work closely together. We help clients succeed across different jurisdictions and offer our people an international opportunity.
We don’t have to answer to anyone other than our clients; we’re owned by our founder. So we can be quick to make decisions and genuinely bespoke in our offering. We’re a global company with a very personal service.
We are highly specialised in our own areas of expertise, but can draw on colleagues in every area of regulation. We love learning from each other, and our advice is backed by the knowledge of the whole team.
We are proud to support local community initiatives and wider charitable work. We give our people the opportunity to suggest ideas for volunteering and fundraising and to get involved in Bovill-supported initiatives.
